Bullying
It's funny, well, not that funny, but the people who are most concerned about bullying are the ones who have been bullied or have a loved one who has. The ones who haven't seem to say, "kids will be kids", or "it's always been that way," or "teach your kid to stand up to the bully." *of course this is a generalization.
Frankly, it's easier to teach NOT to bully than it is to teach someone to stand up to a bully.
In the end, the saying, "What doesn't kill you, makes you stronger." is so true. The people who have been bullied are the strongest people I know, when they aren't DEAD because of suicide, depression, anxiety, and low self-esteem.
Wake up! Even the "popular" kids, and the ones with good grades can bully.
Not in my classroom. Not on my watch.
One solution is to shelter your child. Many are resorting to this tactic because the most important thing is your one child...but many choose to work through it, try to change it, and are stronger for it.
More people need to stand up.
Sitting down in your little corner of the world does zero, zilch, nada.
How will I do my part?
Open conversation at home. Accountability at home. Talk therapy if needed. A visit to the office at the school. As a teacher, every kid gets a smile from me, and a open door to talk. I'd start a kindess campaign at the school.
How will you do your part?
